This red Cotes du Rhone is highly representative of its appellation. It is a fine example of the excellent quality that can be achieved by the wines of the South.
Dark fruit, spices, harmonious tannins. This wine could be drunk in 10 to 20 years and could be served at 16 or 17 degrees C with grilled meat, red meat or poultry.
Vivid purple. Suave, mineral-driven, highly perfumed scents of cherry and raspberry, with an undercurrent of dried flowers.
It reveals the essence of Provence in its dense plum/purple color and powerful aromatics of sweet creme de cassis, black cherries, licorice, lavender, pepper, and incense.
Perhaps we have here the wine that was drunk by the Popes in the Middle Ages. It seems indeed that the first wines of Chateauneuf-du-Pape were white, faithful to the colour of the Communion wine.
